Lakeway City Park. Sixty four acres with a beach area on Lake Travis, about two miles of trails, a butterfly garden, a play area, and picnic facilities. The beach access is the most useful family portrait location inside city limits, because it puts water in frame without a boat or a private dock.

Hamilton Greenbelt. Two connected greenbelt segments through the middle of Lakeway. Shaded cedar and live oak, quiet on a weekday morning. The right choice for Hill Country texture instead of lake views, and for August when open sun is impossible.

Canyonlands. The rougher trail system on the Lakeway map, with more elevation change and more exposed limestone. Good for seniors who want something less manicured than a park.

Dragon Park. Small, distinctive, and immediately recognizable to anyone who grew up in Lakeway, which makes it a sentimental favorite for young families and for graduation photos of kids who played there.

Heritage Center Park. Compact and close in, which works for short sessions and for older clients who cannot manage a trail.

March and April bring wildflowers along RR 620 and Lohmans Crossing plus spring green on the cedar and oak. It is also when lake level starts to matter visually. Lake Travis is a variable reservoir and sat at roughly 97 percent full in late August 2026. In a low year the shoreline at City Park retreats and the beach session becomes a rock session, which is a different photograph and worth knowing before you book.

June through September, sessions run in the last ninety minutes of daylight. Central Texas burn bans are common in that stretch and change what parks allow, so Bridget checks the city's current status before planning anything involving props.
